Boum!

A rainy weekend :) I've re-discovered a charmingly happy french singer of the 1930's; sing to me, dear Charles Trenet.

It's been a lovely weekend thus far. I'll end today with birthday cupcakes and hot chocolate, followed by a viewing of How to Steal a Million snuggled under my heater blanket.

Enjoy EVERYTHING.

Jumpsuit?! Oui. I sport one.

my tank jumpsuit: zip-up top & elastic waist with pockets.

I've been intrigued by jumpsuits for this spring. Wondering, could I pull this off? Let alone, could I make one myself? And, I have done it. This really was a project, really I just wanted to try it because I was curious to see if I could. I learned oodles from this. Initially I wanted a solid black fabric, though I had much of this pattered fabric leftover from other projects. It's so comfortable, I am a bit surprised how much I enjoy wearing it.

Sweet Nothings.

Hmm what a lovely day, and a pleasant evening to compliment. Tonight I went to a show at a local coffee shop where a friend of mine played some great music. I'm happy I could be a part of it. Here is what I wore:

*striped blazer I altered- thrifted; jeans- Ross; white v-neck- men's Hane's tee I altered; boots I added lace to- Payless?; cameo necklace of my mother's I have claimed as my own. *

Finished Projects; Take SEVEN.

Oh boy, I have so many finished projects that I want to get up here.. but as soon as Im finishing one up I get another idea and start on it right away. I look into my closet and see about seven done pieces hanging there that I still need to get up here. Plus, a couple I am currently working on.
Here is a top I finished, seems like long ago:

An off-white sort of linen fabric with subtle white stripes.
Painted french emblems on the sleeves.

I've been in an intense state of 'design mode', if you will, lately. Its ever on going it seems. My brain swirls and twirls with ideas and inspirations, and sometimes gives my head an ache. But I am learning SO much, and loving it always :)

black sheer tee with somewhat of a stand collar.
I wore it tucked into jeans, black heeled booties on my feet.

"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common- this is my symphony."

Flannel made feminine.

A men's flannel shirt that I added puff sleeves and a tall collar to.

Sometimes I get flack for being ambitious in a sucky economy.
..I know achieving my goals and dreams is not going to be easy, and I don't want it to. I want to work the hardest for my dreams and desires, and have experiences and knowledge that come through each struggle and joy.
I'll go about achieving mine cautiously, and I'm not going to be foolish about it- I know, and feel, the opportunities are fading out in a dwindling economy, but they are there. I will seek them out.
If and when I fail, so what. I'll come out of it. I won't stop doing what I love for fear that tomorrow, it just might not work out; I love it too much.

Don't let that passion, that fire, that love, for that thing in which you love fade away. Keep that fire burning. We were born into this generation because we are strong; The big man upstairs knows we can do it.

While I wait for my clothes in the dryer… I snapped this earlier:

I went to Walgreens today for a couple miscellaneous things. While in checkout, there was a charming, happy old man just ahead of me, I’d guess 70+ years of age. He talked with a British accent, and dressed perfectly, hat to shoes. I wasn’t attracted to him, mind you, but he was in a way, quite refreshing. He somewhat reminded me of the old man, George, from the classic Disney film Aristocats. He wasn’t prancing around dancing or singing like George, but he very well could have been in that sincere heart of his. Anyways, he left with a “too-da-lou” to the patient checkout man, and off he went into the rainy afternoon.
On the drive home, I very much thought of the older generations; the struggles they’ve been through, the joys they’ve experienced, the families they’ve raised. I am so grateful and truly respect them. Even in this ever-so-changing world, they are the ones who continue to be themselves. You can count on it. They’re not going to change who they are to fit in with something current. They’re living to live. And do so with a smile. And goodness, when they give you a compliment, you surely know they mean it. They don’t mess around. :) Learn from them.

The buzzer in the background tells me my clothes are dry. That means, finished project posts to come..
