Most of us have a hard time finding the perfect jeans, right? So very many factors go in to them.. hips, butt, thighs, length, pockets, style, comfort... I came across this article this morning:

Quick Pitch: 3D scanners and pattern-making software are used to create perfect-fitting jeans and other clothing.

This photo was taken with the first roll of film from my birthday present given to me by my hubby. Its a pretty blue Holga 135bc, a separate flash included, even with colored flash cards. It's fun to play around with. We didn't have enough pennies for a Canon S95 (thanks Glenn), but maybe by my next birthday. Can't wait to get my hands on one!

Last weekend we found ourselves packing up food and in the car for a long drive. We found a great little beach on Lake Cocolalla that we had all to ourselves. So much better than being cooped up in the house for a couple weeks due to my lack of health. 'Smarvelous. 'Swonderful.

Back from Florida! What a trip.. cool shows and creatures at Seaworld; rides and fireworks at Magic Kingdom; Safari, drums, and neat animals at Animal Kingdom; entertaining Star Wars weekend at Hollywood Studios; and a wonderful day at Discovery Cove feeding birds, snorkeling, and swimming with dolphins. I might share the dolphin swim photos a little later.

Just some of the loverly glass jars and vases I found.

What a great birthday, the best in a long while.
Birthday tuesday started with donuts and cocoa in the morning with an auntie (with the perfect morning weather to enjoy them outside), the best phone message from my Dad (love you!), watched a happy birthday video from my guy (he's talented), lunch at Quiznos with a gal pal (Quiznos is my favorite next to breakfast foods), walked through a great antique/thrift store (I swoon for old glass jars, luggage, and records), tacos for dinner (thanks auntie), was surprised with a delivery of flowers from my guy (smile), talked to my family via Skype (many laughs), then concluded the day with ice cream and a movie (Moosetracks and When In Rome).
Great day :)

Today was enjoyable as well, I went shopping a bit with some birthday money. I'll share some treasures with you soon, sound good?

Anybody have a favorite birthday, or tradition?

This is a finished project from a few weeks ago; nice and light for the summer.

On the topic of new dresses, I purchased two vintage dresses on etsy last week and I am so happy with them! One is a kelly green day dress and the other is tri-colored and form fitting. Love them both. You'll see them in the next couple of weeks, I'm certain.

Fourth of July was great. It was pretty much a whole weekend of festivities, which included a street fair-ish event, fireworks, a visit with an old friend(and a beautiful serenade), early morning air balloon watching, a two hour parade, and a family BBQ. Quite nice.

I went home this past weekend to surprise my family with a visit. Sure was fun to see their reactions. Was also quite an eventful weekend with Father's Day, my parents anniversary, and a sister getting engaged. Plus a much needed visit with friends.

Coeur d' Alene is a beautiful place, always a home to me, and the lake is a great bonus. But I have grown fond of this little town called Salem here in Utah. And, the mountains are bigger here. In this photo they're covered in fog.

I don't think I would allow myself to live in a place without mountains. Oh dear, no.

Congrats to this couple! They'll be married in August.

I had fun being a poparazzi; they're always laughing :).
We found old train cars abandoned in a field and a lovely orchard. We also crunched through a hay field and admired a duck couple in the cool grass of an elementary school.

This closely resembles my dream bedroom. The colors, small chandelier, curtains, blue chair, floors, door to a balcony, and note the mug on the bedside table. So comfortable, relaxing, and good-feeling. Except in my dream.. there aren't unnecessary pillows and the blankets look slept in. I think I would also change the bedside tables, and add these things:

I've been listening to M. Ward in the late evenings for some days now; something about his voice is relaxing.

I've realized a certain comfort that can be found in a man cannot really be found in anything else. Like when a father tells you he is proud, and loves you. It means so much when he speaks his heart. Or the feeling of strength and comfort you feel when a man wraps his arms around you and hugs you meaningfully.

There are different ways men and women comfort each other, and makes the other happy. We need each other for whole completeness, and happiness.

I'll continue dreaming of a man with arms to consume me that I can call all mine, with a smile on my face.

I love spring weather.

Know what else I love? Awesome shows at awesome venues. Couple weeks ago I saw Desert Noises (shout out to mi amigo Tyler for being a rad bassist), Miniature Tigers, and The Morning Benders at Velour. You must have a listen to all of their tunes.

I actually have no photos of this night. But I tell you what, one man from Miniature Tigers resembles that of John Legend.

So pleasant out today, quite a contrast to the winter storms we've been having. It's known as "sprinter" here (spring and winter). The much welcomed sun has scared the snow away and my bare legs aren't complaining!

This outfit is all thrifted and recycled:
* nude colored blouse- thrifted then altered
* creamy lace skirt- made myself from secondhand fabric
* deep red shoes with a bit of a heel- thrifted vintage
* tied leather belt- I snatched from my Dad before it could be thrown away

I'm currently crushing on pastel colors. Best include them in your wardrobe this spring and summer!

This afternoon I'm here in a small town library on a cozy round chair positioned next to the window. It may be the only place to get wifi. Springtime in a new town is a great way to start things off.

I traveled twelve hours and now live near Salt Lake, Utah and I'm really liking it so far. Though, there are only a couple thrift stores which might be the death of me. Hah. But there are so many other things to occupy myself with. I'm excited to.. ride the train to Heber city, as well as Salt Lake City, walk the old building main streets in the warmth of the sun, discover picnic spots, hide out in cocoa shops, attend MANY concerts, ride the big swings in the Orem park, see who comes for the Sundance Film festivals, and so many other things as the seasons bring changes.

I made this dress a few days ago; wanted something simple and classic without a defined waist like the other 98 percent of my closet.
My favorite is the vertical lace down the front.

I'd like to try a new dessert, any ideas? Anybody have a fav you'd like to share with moi?

A Finished Project.

This is the coat I was telling you about, my first ever attempt at taking on such a project.

It's got a giant hood, frog closures (no, they don't really look like frogs), black lining, and green zig-zag stitch details on the edges of the hood, pockets, and sleeves. What do you think?

I've felt so inspired lately in everything I've been making. Many finished projects. I think I may have a whole spring wardrobe now.. I think it's my being restless, anxious, excited, all inspired by love, and this is the way I choose to let it escape. I get thinking about new adventures in a new town soon, and I immediately have ideas rush around and feel the need to be creative with my hands. I'm loving it and constantly learning so much.

A vintage trench I thrifted not too long ago. It really is that color of spectacular red.

I've made a spring coat last week that I'm anxious to share with you. My first ever attempt at such a project. I learned so much, and I love the finished product! One of my favorite pieces I've done yet.
I'll show it to you soon, so don't go far.

April Smith and the Great Picture Show

As said in the prior post, April Smith and the Great Picture Show were part of the free concert with Fanfarlo at the Knitting Factory Thursday night. What a fantastic performance! The upright bass got your head bobbin' as you felt it in your chest, and the man on drums made you smile a million times. I find the drummers are usually the most fun to watch, they make it seem like they are in their most happiest state while they're drum drum drummin.

All the fellas were handsomely dressed and April Smith in a tootoo. I'll break it down a bit- the man on keys sporting suspenders and a fedora, accordian/guitarist looking pro in a buttoned vest, drummer sporting a great hat and striped socks, and the man on bass just had a feeling about him with that very nice feather fedora that won my vote for best dressed (or, maybe it was just that great looking bass in that rich red wood color that did it). Each member with splendid shoes, and, no pleated pants.

An all around superfulous band with great taste, that encourage you to chat with them after performances. Check out their tunes here, and as always, the tour dates!

Fanfarlo visits Spokane

Fanfarlo played a great show Thursday night at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, Washington. A free show put on by 96.9, with Kristen Marlo opening and April Smith and The Great Picture Show who got the crowd dancing and ready for Fanfarlo.
Their home being in London, England, their performance and clothing attire, all dressed in pastel colors that night, was nothing short of groovy. I love their many instruments and how the sounds are 'smarvelously put together.

Sparkle and shine.

This spring season I think I'm really going to be in to bows, sequin and bead embellishments, and rad sleeves.

It's warming up a bit outside. Hit 50 degrees yesterday, yet the morning is oh-so-frigid and the grass is all icicle-y. I love the near unpredictability of the weather.
